The Federalists are an indie rock band from the east bay. They
Formed in 2005, and released their self titled debut LP in July
2006. Rebelling against modern gimmicks; (Dance Rock, Production
by Kanye West or The Neptunes, Whining) their music centers around
the forgotten arts of songwriting, memorable melodies, and musicianship.
Proof of this can be found on their new record which was recorded
live in the studio with no overdubs. Unlike most bands that embarrass
themselves live, when it comes to The Feds, what you hear on the
album is exactly what youre going to get in concert.
Their first album might trick you into thinking they are an alt
country band, but their style is continuously shifting. Each time
you see The Feds live you can almost guarantee you are going to
hear something new. Their influences range from The Beatles to Television
to Wilco to Pedro the Lion. These influences dont creatively hold
them back. They spark ideas and sounds that could only come from
The Feds. If they stay consistent the way that they have, soon you
will be hearing a lot more about The Federalists.
