Take catchy pop hooks, add a twist of reggae and ska, toss in some
Latin beats and hip-hop sensibilities, blend it together with a
bit of funk . . . sound like a recipe for confusion? In Hawaiian
there's a term for this: KAPAKAHI, which means Twisted, Bent, and
Confused. No better term exists to describe a band that takes all
the previously mentioned influences and fuses them together into
a unique sound that transcends typical genre labels.
Kapakahi was formed in the Mission district of San Francisco in
April of 2005 when four musicians brought together their different
geographical and musical backgrounds. Continually developing and
crafting their sound, Kapakahi is branching out to perform at many
top-notch venues all over the Bay Area and beyond.
Kapakahi's aptly titled debut album, Twisted, Bent & Confused
is available now on iTunes and CD Baby and other major digital distribution
sites.
